Moonshiner’s Featured in Gaston Gazette



Like the Carolina shiners who distilled their clandestine whiskey by the light of the moon, a new bar and grill in downtown Gastonia will boost local spirits come nightfall, said owner Bianca Sun.

Moonshiners, 141 W. Main Ave., is filling the vacant space most recently occupied by Scarabelli’s Italian Restaurant and the Cotton Co. Martini Lounge, which closed in March.

The new bar has drawn comparisons to the Coyote Ugly Saloon, where female servers are known to dance on the bar. Coyote Ugly, which first opened in New York in 1993, spawned a chain of bars and a Hollywood movie.
